Our One Year Anniversary!

We did it! We made it to a year…and there are many more years ahead!

I had so many fears starting this business- the biggest one was that I would fail. A year later I have a completely different understanding of what failure could be. In this case there is no such thing as failing because we tried and we will keep trying. This effort has lead to rewards beyond what I could have ever imagined.

We held our first class on October 9, 2024 from my garage for all the neighborhood kids. It was a 100 degrees and my own daughter started crying because she couldn’t mix the exact color she wanted (we’ve all been there).

Everyone has to start somewhere. I gave myself credit for starting, but I had lots of work to do!

I reflected on each class to make improvements and just kept going. In the beginning there were lots of free trials, classes with only a few students, and even canceled classes due to no enrollment.

If you believe in what you are doing, be patient, and keep going.

That’s what I did and eventually there were full classes, waitlists, requests for birthday parties, and a demand for school programs! *There are still some classes that flop, but those are the ones we improve from the most.

My mission is to open a brick-and-mortar art studio where our kids can be as creative as they would like. We are getting closer and closer and none of it would have happened without the amazing families that have supported Hot Potato!
